We are looking to fill 1 EET Co-op position within our Research and Development department starting May 2019. This role would be best suited for 4th year Computer or Electrical engineering students.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design electrical/electronic circuits for HVAC/Lighting controls and sensors
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Assemble and aid in the design of production test jigs.
  • Build prototypes by hand SMT and through-hole.
  • Assist with design and implementation of manufacturing jigs.
  • Document installation instructions, test procedures and technical notes.
  • First article inspection and test.
  • Hardware test of new engineering circuits and product, thermal, cycle and endurance testing.
  • Prepare product test apparatus for UL/CE and Safety and Smoke Control and FCC testing.
  • Re-work defective new product.
  • Support Testing department staff.
  • Use most current RCC application software to verify correct operation (e.g. RC-Studio, RC-Toolkit)
  • Act as the backup testing technician and technical support.
  • Discuss returned product’s problems with engineering staff.
  • Service returned product from customer.
  • Chip programming, setup and maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Four years of a degree program that directly relates to Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Bridge students who completed a technologist diploma are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Familiarity with CAD software 
  • Familiarity with documenting instructions, test procedures and technical notes
  • Experience with Electronics Test Equipment, electronics troubleshooting and repair
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Experience with prototype development, soldering and re-work
  • Knowledge of Modbus protocol
  • A positive and result-driven attitude
  • Strong desire to learn our processes and products
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
