BACnet International is the international organization that encourages the successful use of BACnet in building automation and control systems through interoperability testing, educational programs and promotional activities. The BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU) is the European trade association for the application of the global BACnet standard ISO 16484-5. BACnet is the only vendor-independent communication protocol that is specifically designed for building automation.

Open Automated Demand Response (OpenADR) is an open and standardized way for electricity providers and facility operators to communicate with each other using a common language over the Internet. This helps utilities maintain grid reliability and enables facility operators to strategically shed loads while controlling costs. The OpenADR Alliance was formed in 2010 by industry stakeholders to foster the development, testing, and deployment of commercial OpenADR.
