Project Profile: One Oxford Centre

With 46 floors in its main tower, One Oxford Centre rises hundreds of feet above downtown Pittsburgh and is one of the distinguishing buildings of the city. It offers Class A office and retail space with a multilevel parking garage, an atrium, and a five-level urban plaza. In January 2016 Shorenstein acquired One Oxford Centre from Oxford Development and implemented an intensive improvement program that included a focus on sustainability.

Authorized Dealer Pittsburgh Controls & Consulting installed a Reliable Controls building automation system at One Oxford Centre in 2016 and returned to the site in 2017, 2018, and 2019 for further upgrades.

The dealer worked hard to integrate the new system with existing equipment. A challenge of this project was taking partial control of the air-handling unit. A smoke control requirement meant Pittsburgh Controls & Consulting had to install MACH-Pro devices between the existing controller and variable frequency drives to modify the air-handler dampers and fans while maintaining control functionality.

With the Reliable Controls system, Pittsburgh Controls & Consulting empowered improved energy efficiency at One Oxford Centre by moving from a pneumatic control model to a centralized building automation system. The power and flexibility of Reliable Controls allowed the dealer to meet the technical requirements of this complex project while staying within budget.
