When Nissan Australia set out to move its national operations to the Melbourne suburb of Mulgrave after 40 years in Dandenong South, the vision was clear: create a modern, efficient headquarters that supports innovation and sustainability. The new Nissan Australia headquarters includes over 9,000 square meters of office space, a workshop, a showroom and training rooms, a ground-floor café, and 550 parking bays in a purpose-built facility that reflects Nissan Australia’s commitment to environmental responsibility, a mission supported by the integration of a Reliable Controls building automation system that optimizes comfort, energy consumption, and long-term performance.
At Nissan Australia, Authorized Dealer Specialized Control Solutions of Australia (SCSA) installed a Reliable Controls system that provided the foundational infrastructure for sustainable performance. Delivered during the COVID-19 pandemic, the project faced significant logistical and operational hurdles, including a 75 percent occupancy rate at launch. Despite these challenges, the building management team remained committed to green building practices and operational excellence, and today the Nissan Australia building has been recognized for its impressive environmental performance with the following awards:
The system architecture features RC-FLEXair, MACH-ProAir, MACH-ProCom, and MACH-ProSys controllers integrated through a full suite of Reliable Controls software that delivers scalable control, secure remote access, historical data analysis, and real-time diagnostics.
Leveraging open protocols, the building automation system seamlessly integrates Reliable Controls devices with third-party equipment, including a BACnet gateway for 162 variable air volume units, electrical meters, and a BACnet-enabled generator. This high level of interoperability ensures unified control and monitoring across all subsystems, empowering facility managers to continuously improve operations, optimize comfort and energy use, and meet sustainability targets.
The success of the Nissan Australia project reflects the power of Reliable Controls technology backed by the expertise and commitment of our Authorized Dealers. With deep product knowledge and a people-first approach, SCSA delivered a tailored solution that will deliver measurable, lasting results aligned with Nissan Australia’s goals.
