The HSBC El Salvador headquarters is a modern nine-story structure in San Salvador’s bustling financial center. The third largest bank in El Salvador, at the time of writing, HSBC had 65 branches, 1,800 employees, and $1.5 billion in assets in the country. HSBC El Salvador holds a controlling interest in a leading Panamanian financial institution with 106 branches throughout Central America.
Reliable Controls Authorized Dealer MP Service installed a new building automation system for HSBC El Salvador that included controls in the San Salvador headquarters as well as smaller installations at 30 branches. The biggest challenge of the project was the bank’s intranet, which did not allow branch-office MACH-ProCom controllers to communicate directly with the headquarters installation in San Salvador.
To address the problem, MP Service configured the MACH-ProCom controllers on the intranet as BACnet Broadcast Management Device links, then set up an MS/TP subnet for the MACH-Stat, MACH-Zone, MACH1, and MACH2 controllers. The San Salvador installation featured two MACH-ProCom controllers, one configured for two MS/TP subnets wired to the MACH-ProZone, MACH1, MACH2, MACH-Stat, and SMART-Sensor devices, and the second configured for third-party power meters using Modbus on the MS/TP port and MACH-ProPoint expansion modules on the AUX-Net port.
The installation was expected to achieve energy savings of USD$124,000.
