What is WEEE?

The European Union (EU) introduced the WEEE Directive to tackle the growing amount of waste from electrical and electronic equipment in the EU. The WEEE Directive requires producers of electronic and electrical equipment to manage and finance the collection, reuse, and recycling of products sold on the EU market with the goal to minimize the volume of e-waste and encourage the reuse and recycling of products at the end of their operating life.

How does Reliable Controls comply with WEEE?

Reliable Controls has met the obligations of the WEEE Directive by registering our products in countries where they are sold in the EU. We have also elected to develop a comprehensive program and join the WEEE compliance schemes in these countries to help support and manage customer returns.

Manufacturing Reliable Controls products requires extraction and processing of natural resources that may contain hazardous substances. WEEE labels on our products alert our customers that these products should not be disposed of in a landfill or with municipal or household waste.

Responsible manufacturing is our way of life

At Reliable Controls we also follow the principles and guidelines set by the US Environmental Protection Agency under its voluntary Responsible Recycling (R2) standard and manufacture 21 products that comply with the EU’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive, which restricts the use of certain hazardous materials in electrical and electronic products.

Reliable Controls customers can be sure that our long-term, better by design approach not only provides excellent ROI but also mitigates the negative impact of hazardous substances and waste management; our products are recycled responsibly and built to last. That’s a sustainable return on investment.
