Capital Linen Service has delivered linen services across the Canberra region since 1978. Certified to ISO 9001:2015, the company processes more than 6,500 tons of linen each year with over 100 staff. The laundry facility is mostly automated with the capacity to process up to 200 tons per week while ensuring stringent quality and safety standards are met. Capital Linen Service promotes sustainability through its interactions with suppliers and in reducing its ecological footprint in line with the Carbon Neutral ACT Government Framework.
Reliable Controls Authorized Dealer Innovative Electrical Solutions undertook a building automation system retrofit project at Capital Linen Service in 2016.
Networked hardware in the facility consists of a MACH-ProWebSys controller that serves the main plant, a MACH-ProSys controller that serves the boiler room plant, and eight MACH-ProZone controllers that serve field equipment. The devices are connected via Ethernet to an on-site server that runs RC-Archive and RC-Reporter software, which provide continuous energy monitoring and reporting to facility managers.
The controlled mechanical equipment includes six outside air-handling units with exhaust systems and an evaporative cooling and steam-boiler plant. The steam-boiler plant provides primary steam to multiple buildings on site.
Innovative Electrical Solutions completed the project without disrupting Capital Linen Service’s significant daily operations and the essential services it provides to local hotels, hospitals, care facilities, and more.
