Project Profile: New York Marriott Marquis

The New York Marriott Marquis is an iconic fixture in Times Square with nearly 2,000 guest rooms, high-speed elevators, a gym, meeting and event spaces, and six dining options, including a revolving rooftop restaurant.

Authorized Dealer Energy IQ began working with the New York Marriott Marquis in 2006, installing a Reliable Controls building automation system it has maintained and upgraded over the years to include hundreds of controllers and devices.

Networked hardware integrates BACnet MS/TP communication to more than 100 unitary devices, such as MACH1, MACH2, MACH-Air, and MACH-ProZone controllers. Networked mechanical equipment includes a chiller plant, boiler plant, domestic water pumping, and air handlers. The project is unique due to a requirement to keep the 37-story atrium pressurized 24 hours a day.

Energy savings in the first year following installation of the Reliable Controls system was close to $1,000,000. Today Energy IQ provides ongoing building management and energy support to the hotel.
