The Mississippi Forensics Laboratory (MSFL), a division of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, provides professional forensics services to the State of Mississippi. The MSFL includes a main lab in Jackson and regional labs in Batesville, Gulf Coast, and Meridian. The Batesville lab specializes in firearms and tool markings, questioned documents, toxicology, trace evidence, latent prints, bioscience, and controlled substance identification.
Reliable Controls Authorized Dealer Tri-Star Companies, Inc. provided a complete building automation system retrofit at the Batesville MSFL.
Tri-Star installed 16 MACH-ProAir controllers, expanded with MACH-ProPoint modules, for variable air volume units. Each controller has one universal input, two solid-state relay outputs, an actuator, and a flow sensor. The networked controllers and expansion modules operate a 30-ton split system with an economizer, boiler, 20-horsepower air compressor, and two pumps.
Tri-Star programmed a ventilation sequence of operation for mixing hoods and testing areas that optimizes occupant comfort while keeping utility costs low. With the new system, MSFL will see significant energy savings—enough to cover the cost of the retrofit within 2 years.
Tri-Star technicians met every need and accommodated the operations schedule at the Batesville MSFL. Reliable Controls and Tri-Star are delighted with the outcome of the project.
