Project Profile: Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre

Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre is the only addiction rehabilitation center in Quebec established by and for Inuit that offers adapted and specific addiction services for the Nunavimmiut people. Its integrated approach draws from Inuit knowledge, culture, and values as well as best practices in addiction recovery. Built in 2022, Isuarsivik’s main facility has 32 beds for individuals seeking treatment and their children, 12 staff housing units, a sewing and multipurpose room, office spaces, a cafeteria, and conference rooms. A variety of family housing units, a daycare, and a school room allow families to stay together when a loved one resides at the center.

Authorized Dealer Intégrair installed a Reliable Controls building automation system during construction of the Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Center.

Intégrair extended the capabilities of five MACH-ProSys controllers with 14 MACH-ProPoint expansion modules to control three air-handling units, three heat exchangers, and seven small ventilation units. The MACH-ProSys is a fully programmable internet-connected BACnet Building Controller with extensive network-routing capabilities.

Facility operators use the high-resolution graphical interfaces on two MACH-ProView LCD with Router controllers to operate the boiler plant. With the MACH-ProView LCD, users can choose from a selection of configurable views to display real-time data and edit object values on custom background images using text, graphics, and animations like buttons and sliders.

To integrate Reliable Controls devices with third-party products during installation, Intégrair used the flexibility of RC-Studio software, an all-in-one engineering tool that provides a multivendor, multiprotocol integration solution. Building operators can easily access the building automation system using RC-Studio on a local operator station in the mechanical room. With RC-RemoteAccess BACnet Secure Network software, Intégrair improved data communications security without the need for additional routers or controllers, providing a secure link to Intégrair’s office for service and maintenance.

The harsh weather in northern Quebec demanded a stable, reliable building automation system. This is where the Reliable Controls system shines, making facility control easy and providing an efficient, healthy environment for the important work of addiction recovery.
