IKEA is a Swedish multinational retailer based in the Netherlands that designs, manufactures, and sells ready-to-assemble home furnishings and kitchen appliances at reasonable prices. The first IKEA store opened in 1958 in Älmhult, Sweden. As of early 2023, IKEA had 460 stores in 62 markets around the world.
Authorized Dealer Altitude Building Automation installed a Reliable Controls building automation system at the IKEA store in Centennial, Colorado. When Altitude Building Automation took on the project, the equipment in the 2-year-old facility was close to catastrophic failure due to poor design and control strategies.
To overhaul the building automation system, Altitude Building Automation installed a MACH-ProWebCom controller and six MACH-ProSys controllers on the local area network to control the facility’s central geothermal plant. MACH-ProZone devices monitor and control the geothermal heat pumps. Mechanical equipment in the building also included air-handling units and sequenced valves.
The modular nature of Reliable Controls devices meant Altitude Building Automation could reuse existing control enclosures and wiring. The Reliable Controls system provided facility managers with reliable operation, increased energy efficiency, eliminated false safety trips, and improved equipment protection.
