Marketing Coordinator at Reliable Controls
Reliable Controls proudly offers students a dynamic opportunity to get hands-on experience in the building automation industry. Our co-op students work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to meaningful projects that enhance their skills and knowledge in areas like product R&D, quality assurance, and marketing. Fun fact: James Puritch, our VP of R&D, was first hired as a co-op student in 2000.

What motivated you to apply for a co-op position at Reliable Controls?
My conversation with the Reliable Controls staff at a Camosun College career fair motivated me to apply. Their enthusiasm for the company and the industry was contagious, and they explained everything with kindness and positivity. This interaction provided me with a glimpse into the company culture at Reliable Controls.
Had you ever thought about working in the controls industry?
No, not before I started at Reliable Controls. I wasn’t aware of this industry before.
When did you know you wanted to pursue a full-time position with Reliable Controls, and why?
It was right after my first month at Reliable Controls as the Marketing Co-op. I loved the industry, our commitment to achieving net-zero emissions, and fostering a greener future. I also enjoyed the company culture, and everyone here is genuinely happy and welcoming.
What are your role and responsibilities at Reliable Controls today?
I am the Marketing Coordinator, managing marketing assets in collaboration with both internal teams and external stakeholders. I ensure effective communication among our teams and with outside partners. Additionally, I plan, schedule, and publish content for our social media channels. My role involves close collaboration with colleagues on various marketing campaigns.
How do you see your career evolving?
I envision my career progressing at Reliable Controls, moving from Marketing Coordinator to a larger role. I value the dedication my manager shows in mentoring me and equipping me for my advancement in the company.
What do you like most about working here?
I truly appreciate our company culture; it creates a sense of belonging and a work family atmosphere. All our social events are enjoyable and a joy to participate in. Additionally, I love that the office welcomes pets, allowing me to bring my dog, Henry, every time I come to the office.
What else are you passionate about?
I'm passionate about our company’s mission to create a sustainable future. It gives me a sense of purpose and allows me to contribute to something bigger.
Do you have advice for aspiring co-op students?
Absolutely. Once you join, don’t hesitate to ask questions. Everyone here is eager to assist, and if someone isn’t sure, they’ll direct you to someone who can help. Additionally, remain receptive to new experiences. The amazing advantage of being a co-op is the chance to learn about and engage with a variety of opportunities. I encourage you to approach this experience with an open mind, as it may help clarify your future aspirations.
